general description

GROT 12 is a low-frequency variant of GROT 12 series ground penetrating radars with a frequency range from 1 to 200 MHz.

GROT 12 consists of a transmitter, a receiver and a set of antennas. Ground penetrating radar is controlled with a personal computer (it can be a netbook or a tablet computer, for example) via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or a connecting cable. Data processing and interpretation take place in real-time. Control program has a user friendly, convenient interface. Signal registration is carried out directly in a digital linear form.

GROT 12 is sold with different antennas with various frequency ranges available with centre frequencies from 150 MHz to 15 MHz and sizes in the unfolded form of 1-10 m accordingly.

The maximum length of all types of antennas when folded is approximately 1 meter. The use of antennas with greater lengths can increase the scanning depth. The usage of 10 meters long antennas and the transmitter with the signal voltage of 50 kV with GROT 12 allowed in 2012 to carry out a unique experiment and, for the first time, to get a radiogram, while scanning Moscow region clays to a depth of 450 meters.

The GPR is operated by one or two specialists in manual or automatic modes with adjustable start period of the registration process. The ground penetrating radar is characterized by a high rate of scanning and unlimited battery life. Depending on the tasks, GROT 12 type GPRs are equipped with either high-frequency or low-frequency transmitters. There are transmitters with the signal voltage of 5-15 kV, pulse power of 1-10 mW and the pulse duration of 1-20 ns. The transmitter power is regulated with attenuators between 0 and 120 dB. On order, GROT 12 type georadars can be equipped with antennas with the length of 15-30 meters and the transmitter pulse power of 50 MW.

The data acquisition and processing program allows real time combining GPR scanning and GPS data and building three-dimensional images taking into account the relief with an accuracy of the GPS receiver.
